Smoking burns more than tobacco

No cigarettes. No regrets.

AADAC knows that kids have heard a lot about tobacco. Smoking causes cancer. Smoking makes your clothes, hair and breath stink. Smoking causes wrinkles and makes your fingers turn yellow. Kissing a smoker is like kissing an ashtray.

We know that kids hear this in some form or another almost every day. But we also know that while more than 80% of Alberta youth do NOT smoke, some will be tempted to give it a try.

What's our message to young people? Don't let tobacco companies make money by selling you a product that can kill you. The tobacco industry needs you. But you don't need them. The next time someone offers you a cigarette, think about who's going to benefit.

Don't become someone who looks back and says, "I wish I never started smoking." Make a commitment now to never start.
