Peer support is a group of interested and concerned peers that give advice and support to other teens in troubled times. It is also an awareness group that tries to prevent problems such as drug addiction, suicide, and abuse before it ever begins. By designing interactive posters, which are used to combat problems like drug and alcohol abuse, we can reach out to everyone without saying a single word. As well, last year, Peer Support members ran many activities. Some of them were about personal wellness and taking care of yourself in a healthy way.
The start of the school year is a very busy time for Peer Support. Peer Support members must collect ideas and plan activities for the school whether it is a drunk driving awareness activity or finding ways to get teen's attention on other serious issues. One of the most important jobs for Peer Support teams at the beginning of the year is to tell new students that there is a group to go to if they need someone to talk to. One reason Peer Support members are so successful in getting their message across is because we are a group of students who understands teen issues. We have experienced many of the problems that teens are going through today.
We hope this year proves to be an even greater success.
