In a lot of ways, life is a constant process of rebuilding yourself. You learn new things about life and about yourself. You make new friendships, and sometimes you lose old ones. You set new goals and work toward them. You remember who you were, but you also redefine who you are and what you want.
Recovering from a problem with drinking, using other drugs or gambling is no different. It’s about taking a close look at yourself—what you know, what you’ve experienced, what you believe and value, and what you’re good at—and using all those things to rebuild yourself into the person you want to be.
